Campsite Locator

There are many ways to locate camp grounds to visit. One of the best ways is to go to your state government website. This is an easy and highly recommended way to find a) a camp ground in your state, b) the availability of campsites at the camp ground, c) activities offered at the camp ground, d) making reservations at the camp ground, and any ammenities offered such as: handicap facilities, showers, RV hookups, horse trails, hiking trails, fishing, etc...
For example, if you live in California, you can simply search www.parks.ca.gov, click campgrounds and/or parks, and find a park you would like to visit. You can do this for any state (eg.www.parks.co.gov, etc...).
Also, once you have decided on the camp ground you would like to visit, we recommend you click on "make reservations" which will then take you (usually) to "ReserveAmerica". Again, this is beneficial when planning a camping trip, especially in the peak months which run in most parks from March to October. Peak seasons always mean that camp grounds are at their full capacity and not having a reservation can ruin any trip.
The general rule of thumb is that you make reservations 6 months in advance of your trip when you have more choices from which site to pick. It is important to remember that once you have made a reservation you are "locked in". Parks do not give refunds. So, if you reserve a campsite for 5 nights, you will be charged for five nights even if you stay for fewer days/nights.
